CAR parking charges are to be suspended in Dudley, Halesowen and Kingswinford on Remembrance Sunday.

In Dudley charges will be suspended on car parks in Flood Street, King Street, Stafford Street, Pitfield Street, Tower Street and Wolverhampton Street.

In Halesowen there will be no charge on car parks in Pool Road, Birmingham Street, High Street and Andrew Road.

And in Kingswinford charges will be suspended on car parks in Manor Park and Penzer Street.

The Remembrance Sunday event in Stourbridge will take place at Mary Stevens Park, where parking is already free.

Thousands of people are expected to turn out across the borough to pay their respects to those who died in combat.

Councillor Patrick Harley, leader of the council, said: “Remembrance Sunday gives us the opportunity to pay tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice on the fields of war.

“We want as many people as possible to attend and pay their respects.

“I have therefore requested parking charges be suspended in Dudley, Halesowen and Kingswinford on Remembrance Sunday.”
