A SECTION of the M5 will be closed for two consecutive weeks, National Highways have said.
The M5 southbound will see overnight closures from next Monday, November 18 until Friday, November 22 between junctions 3 for Quinton and 4a for Catshill.
The motorway will then be closed northbound between the same junctions the following week, from November 25 until November 29, with no access to the Frankley services during either closure.
The closures will be in effect from 9pm until 6am to allow for “essential maintenance” work to take place.
The work will include drainage maintenance, repairing the safety barriers, litter picking, sweeping the road and clearing overgrown vegetation.
There'll be overnight closures on the #M5 between J3 Quinton and J4a Catshill for maintenance including drainage, barrier repairs, litter picking and sweeping.

In a statement online, National Highways said: “Our vegetation clearance will include the removal of trees that have self-seeded and are growing in close proximity to our safety barriers.
“We’ll also remove hazardous trees that are no longer sustainable, or trees that are encroaching onto the carriageway.
“These trees are located on both sides of the carriageway, south of M5 junction 3 to M5 junction 4a.
“We’ll keep our vegetation clearance to a minimum and only remove what is essential to maintain the safety of our road users.
“We will only be removing individual trees, not large sections, and none of these works will impact the screening of properties from the M5.”
They are reassuring the local community and commuters using the motorway that the impact they will experience will be “kept to a minimum”.
However, National Highways have warned that due to the nature of the work that they will be carrying out, there may be some increased noise levels during the closures.
Drivers are being advised to check before they travel, as closure can change at short notice. For the latest information, check the National Highways website.
