A prolific shoplifter who caused "misery" to businesses in Dudley has been jailed after officers found him hiding under a bed.
Lee Hancox, aged 33, of no fixed abode, has been jailed for 32 weeks after committing a string of shop thefts in Brierley Hill and Pensnett.
Hancox repeatedly targeted supermarkets over an eight day spree and stole items totalling hundreds of pounds.
His offending happened between October 21 and October 28 whilst he was wanted on recall to prison.
Officers arrested the 33-year-old after spotting him on High Street, Brierley Hill, on November 5.
Following a foot chase, officers tracked him down to an address where he was found hiding under a bed.
He was consequently charged and remanded in custody until his court hearing where he admitted all seven theft offences.
PC Luke Johnson, from Brierley Hill Neighbourhood Team, said: "Hancox repeatedly targeted shops on Brierley Hill High Street so business owners will be pleased he has been put behind bars.
"Shoplifting affects business owners and members of the public and we are doing everything we can to bring offenders to justice, but we need your help.
"We cannot emphasise the importance of reporting shop thefts so we can identify prolific offenders and keep your community safe."
