A man has been arrested in connection with a string of armed robberies committed at supermarkets across the West Midlands and Leicestershire.
West Midlands Police said officers on patrol stopped a car linked to the suspect after it was spotted driving on the M5 last night (Tuesday, November 12).
A 24-year-old was arrested on Birmingham Road on suspicion of five robberies and remains in police custody.
He was also arrested in connection with a burglary that took place last month in West Bromwich.
The arrest comes after a number of supermarkets were targeted in Birmingham, Sandwell and Leicestershire last month.
A 28-year-old man was charged with five robberies and a burglary last month.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: "We are running Operation Ruby to reduce offences of robbery.
"We are also working hard to spread crime prevention messaging across the region so people can take all reasonable steps possible to help keep themselves and their belongings safe.
