A STOURBRIDGE artist has teamed up with an independent local councillor to create a Christmas card capturing the town’s festive spirit.

Artist and illustrator Stacy Hammond was commissioned by Wollaston and Stourbridge Town Councillor Andrew Tromans to design the front cover of a festive card which will be sent out to residents in his ward.

Inspired by Stourbridge and its community, Stacy is known for her detailed illustrations of maps and landmarks in the Black Country.

She said “I’m thrilled to have worked on this project to capture the festive spirit of Stourbridge and celebrate a place that holds so many cherished Christmas memories, especially around the clock tower.Stourbridge councillor AndrewTromans' Christmas card featuring original artwork by illustrator Stacy HammondStourbridge councillor AndrewTromans' Christmas card featuring original artwork by illustrator Stacy Hammond (Image: Stacy Hammond)

“Art has a way of bringing people together, and I hope this illustration brings a bit of warmth and joy to residents this Christmas. A big thank you to Cllr Andrew Tromans for inviting me to be part of such a lovely idea!”

As well as featuring a heartwarming image of Stourbridge dusted in snow, the Christmas cards, which will go out to more than 5,000 homes, also include useful phone numbers which residents can use to seek support during the festive period.

Cllr Tromans said “I have been a fan of Stacy’s work for some time and I was thrilled that she agreed to take on this project.

“This is the third year in a row that I have sent out cards across Wollaston and Stourbridge Town in the build-up to Christmas.

“I have received positive feedback on the initiative, in previous years, which is welcome, but I mainly want people to know where to get help if they need it over the festive period.

“While Christmas can be a magical time of the year, it can also be incredibly challenging for some especially with the removal of the Winter Fuel Allowance which some pensioners will suffer from.

“I look forward to giving more local talent a chance to design my Christmas card in future as I can’t draw for toffee”

The eagle-eyed may be able to find Cllr Tromans in the image, spot a fondly remembered local business and enjoy the artist’s impression of Stourbridge In Bloom’s planters.
