POLICE attended two crashes on a main road in Quarry Bank at the weekend.

The incidents happened on dual carriageway Thorns Road - one on Friday (November 22) evening at around 9pm and another at 8pm last night (Sunday November 24).

On Friday night a man had to be cut free by firefighters from a car which had crashed into a parked vehicle and hit a brick wall.

A spokesman for West Midlands Fire Service said: "This was a collision between a moving car, a parked, unattended vehicle and a brick wall.

"The driver was freed from the car by firefighters who used cutting equipment to release him. He is believed to have been conveyed to hospital by a family member.

"West Midlands Police were also in attendance.

"Firefighters left the scene at 10.35pm."

West Midlands Ambulance said it was called, but the call was then cancelled and paramedics did not attend.

Then last night (Sunday November 24) there was another crash which saw police and paramedics attend.

Thankfully no-one was hurt in the incident.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called by the police to reports of a multi-vehicle RTC on Thorns Road, Quarry Bank at 8.07pm last night (Sunday 24th November).

"One ambulance attended the scene but there were no injuries."

A petition was started back in 2023 when a 20-year-old woman was hit and killed on the busy road.

It calls for working speed cameras and additional measures “to combat the alarming and uncontrollable speeding offences in Quarry Bank”.
