KINGSWINFORD and South Staffordshire MP Mike Wood is bringing his Older Peoples Information Fair back for another year to help older people connect with important services and advice.

Once again being held at Wordsley Community Centre, the event will take place on Friday November 29 between 10am and 1pm.

The MP has arranged for a variety of organisations to attend offering information about the services and products they offer.

Organisations attending on the day include Dudley Council; South Staffordshire Council; Citizens Advice Bureau; South Staffs Water; Living Well, Feeling Safe (health & well-being services); Dudley Telecare; Home Instead; Dudley Carers Hub; Wiltshire Farm Foods and many others.

There will also be local social groups looking to give information about welcoming new members.

The Conservative MP said: “We all know that many in the older generations can find it hard to access information as more communication is moving online.

“That’s why I’ve organised this annual event since I was first elected in 2015 – so as local people have a chance to get the information they need about services which older people are often interested in.

“There’s no need to book, and I’m really pleased that we’ve got social groups exhibiting on the day too. Loneliness is something that affects a lot of people as they grow older, but it doesn’t need to be that way when we have so many local groups running activities and bringing people together.”

The event, sponsored by Waldrons Solicitors, is free to attend with complimentary refreshments on offer.

HSBC will run two Fraud Awareness sessions – starting at 10.30am and 11.45am which will give advice on what to look out for and how to protect against fraud.

Police will also be there to answer questions and for residents to raise concerns and hear about ways to protect themselves and their homes from crime.

Limited free parking will be available at the former Mere Education centre on Lawnswood Road and at Wordsley Community Centre, Wordsley Green.
