OUR last meeting held on Friday August 22nd was a talk on “Bulbs Through the Year” by Vic Aspland, well attended by both members and guests.
Here Vic, in his enthusiastic way, with a host of slides, left us in little doubt as to the fantastic effects that we could achieve by the correct choice and use of bulbs in our garden.
The flagship event of our club is the annual “Clent Flower Show” to be held on Saturday September 13th in the recently refurbished Clent Parish Hall, with doors opening at 2.15pm.
The show is to be opened by Anne and Ken Quiney, long serving members of our club, and as well as exhibits will include light refreshments, a cake stall, tombola, a raffle, a sale of pre-owned books and an auction of donated exhibits.
This event, organized jointly with Clent WI and in its sixty-second year, is a major attraction drawing visitors from Clent and the surrounding areas and, since all classes are open, we welcome non-members who wish to exhibit, schedules being obtainable from John Babb.
This is always a fun event so come and join us.
September’s regular meeting will be held on Friday the 26th at Clent Parish Hall when Howard Drury will be telling us of “Switzerland: Flower Hunting in the Bernese Oberland”, another meeting not to be missed.
With our varied programme of interesting garden based talks, quizzes and visits, whatever your gardening interests, Clent Gardening Club will have something for you; so why not come and find out more about us?
All are welcome to meetings on the fourth Friday of each month at 7.30 for 7.45 p.m. normally held at the Clent Parish Hall, Church Avenue, Clent.
For further details please contact John Babb on 0121 550 1176.
