Teenage parents and young mums-to-be in Dudley are being urged to contact a support group to get help and advice.
Dudley Respect Yourself Campaign (formerly Teenage Pregnancy Partnership) is calling on teenage parents or young mums-to-be, to contact them for help and support.
Dudley Respect Yourself Campaign, which includes Dudley Council, PCT and Black Country Connexions, is responsible for delivering the Dudley teenage pregnancy strategy, which is a 10 year programme to address under 18 conceptions in Dudley and to provide support for teenage parents.
By making contact with the campaign a range of help and advice can be provided to support teenage parents and parents to be.
Support groups are run on an informal basis offering peer support, professional advice and advocacy.
The groups also provide short educational courses to encourage young parents back into education, training and employment.
Councillor Liz Walker, cabinet member for children’s services, said: “Dudley Respect Yourself Campaign work to reduce the number of under 18 conceptions by improving sex education and encouraging young people to make informed choices.
“Being a teenage parent can be very difficult and I recommend young parents contact the campaign for help and support.
“It is very important young parents are offered advice about being a parent, returning to education, training or employment to help them build a positive future.”
