A WOLLASTON dog owner has landed a court bill of more than £200 after failing to clean up after her pet.

Wioletta Pitkeathley of Norfolk Road was fined £100 by Halesowen magistrates after she failed to pay two fixed penalty fines issued by Dudley Council enforcement officers.

On April 4 this year, a council enforcement officer saw Pitkeathley allowing her dog to foul on a grassed area outside the flats in her road on two occasions.

Pitkeathley, aged 35, failed to pay the fixed penalty fines and was then prosecuted under Section 3 of the Dogs (Fouling of Land) Act 1996.

She failed to attend court and was prosecuted in her absence.

Magistrates fined her £100 and ordered her to pay £100 towards the costs and a victim surcharge of £15.

Councillor Karen Shakespeare, Dudley’s cabinet member for environment and culture, said: “This is another prosecution which should remind dog owners to be responsible and ensure they clear up after their pets.

“Our officers are out there and will issue penalty notices and if offenders fail to pay these we will not hesitate to prosecute these people in the courts.”
