Himley Cricket Club ended the season with an amazing eighth washout to dash any hopes they had of winning the Birmingham League Premier Division title.
The postponment of their home clash against Kenilworth means they finish the season as runners-up to Walsall on 281 points.
A second placed finish delighted skipper Greg Wright, who also confirmed star duo TP Singh and Tim Heap will be staying on for next season when they aim to go one better.
He said: “It’s been a fantastic effort by the players when you consider 281 points would have secured the 2007 title.”
