An author has chosen to launch her new book which tackles the issue of domestic violence at Dudley library later this month.
Birmingham writer Mari Jayne Cox will talk about her first book Sour Face at the library on Saturday September 27 from 2.30pm.
Written in the first person, it is a powerful account of the life of someone suffering domestic abuse and was written to raise awareness of the complex issue.
The launch will be introduced by Dudley’s Queen of Culture Pat Wakelam.
Pat said: ““Domestic abuse affects so many people’s lives and they may find it difficult to talk to others about it.
“I’m sure Sour Face, which partially stems from Mari’s own experiences, will not only raise awareness of issues of domestic abuse, but also offer help and hope to them.”
Copies of the books will be available to buy in the library.
The event is free and open to everyone and refreshments will be served from 2pm. To find out more about the event call Hilary Riley or Lynda Wattis on 01384 812829.
Confidential help and support is available for victims of domestic abuse in Dudley borough. They can call an independent domestic violence advisor on 07964 221489 or 07972 775395.
