Work is about to start on more than £70,000 of improvments to two Dudley parks.

Priors Mill community garden in Upper Gornal is set to benefit from a £44,000 project, while Clayton playing fields in Coseley will benefit from £27,000 gained through the Livebaility scheme.

At Priors Mill new pathways, seating, picnic tables and bins will be installed with lighting columns replaced and new trees and shrubs planted.

The scheme came about after Friends of Priors Mill park drew up a wish list of improvements and worked with the council to create a masterplan for the park.

At Clayton playing fields in Coseley new seating and bins will be installed, the existing youth shelter relocated and two exercise stations set up in the park.

Work on both projects is expected to be completed next month.

Councillor Karen Shakespeare, cabinet member for environment and culture said: “By working together, Dudley Council and the Friends groups are achieving some great improvements in our parks across the borough.

“These two parks in the north of the borough are going to see some real changes thanks to the investment through the Liveability scheme.

“I’m sure people in the north of the borough will be delighted with their new facilities.”
