FUNDRAISING darts tournament is being held this weekend at an Amblecote pub in memory of a tragic teen.
Up to 50 players are expected to take part in the event at The Old Dial at Audnam on Saturday September 20, which is now in its 15th year.
Stephen, of Brettell Lane, died of cancer aged just 17 in 1993, and the doubles knock-out has been held every year since to keep his memory alive and to help raise funds for Acorns Children’s Hospice in Birmingham - a charity picked by his parents Michael and Linda.
Around £10,000 has been raked in through the event over the years, and organiser Tracie Stokes said she is hoping this year’s knock-out will pull in at least £2,000.
Stephen’s dad Michael and sister Stephanie will be taking part in the event - which kicks off at 1.30pm.
Entry is £3 per team of two. All abilities are welcome.
There will be cash prizes for the winning team and runners-up.
A beer festival, starting on Friday and running through until Saturday; an Ann Summer’s party and male stripper night (taking place tonight - Thursday September 18) and a live band night taking place tomorrow (Friday September 19) will also help to bring in extra funds.
