A COWBOY electrician whose work put the lives of Stourbridge householders in danger has been told he could face jail.

Lee Naughton, who was jailed five years ago for shoddy work, told customers he had completed work to required British Standards and issued completed certificates to back up his claims.

The 37-year-old left properties in an unsafe condition in Snowden Road, Stourbridge, Leslie Drive, Kingswinford and Ashdown Drive, Wordsley.

Naughton of Holloway Street, East Park, Wolverhampton, admitted 13 charges relating to fraud, recklessly making false statements and applying a false trade description.

At Wolverhampton Crown Court on Monday September 22, he was remanded on bail for a month for a pre-sentence report but warned by Recorder Balvinder Bathia all sentencing options remained open including custody.

In May 2003 Naughton was sent to prison for a year after he admitted a number of offences including nine charges of making false statements relating to electrical work.

Trading Standards official Peter Kalvert said after the hearing: “These matters are serious because he left properties in an unsafe condition and charged a lot of money for work that was effectively worthless.”

Naughton who also carried out bad work at other homes in the Black Country area was arrested after a year long investigation by Wolverhampton Trading Standards.
