AFTER our August break, we had a lot to catch up on at the September meeting.

Our outing to Tewkesbury to meet and socialise with Frampton Cotteral WI was a great success and we hope that it may become an annual event. As guests of Arley WI, we enjoyed a very informative guided tour of Arley Arboretum. In late July, we joined the other WI walkers at the group walk, this year at Stourton, followed by a very good supper. We had another excellent supper at our presidents’, ‘At home’, unfortunately this year it had to be indoors, I wonder why?

Mrs Vilma Buck was the speaker for September. She spoke about sewing collectables, and brought along some of her collection. She first started by collecting Thimbles, but then diverged into other sewing items such as, pincushions, tape measures and many more. The competition, ‘a small sewing item’ was won by Jean. She had bought along a small brass fireman’s helmet which opened up to reveal a pincushion.

It had been noticed that one of our members can claim a TV appearance as the school teacher in the advertisement for the Black Country Museum. Well done Dalveen.

The walkers are going from Himley for their September walk and craft group will meet as usual at Jean’s on Thursday.

It will be members night for the meeting on Monday October 13 at 7.30pm, at the Senior Citizens Club, High Street. This is the month when the committee take a rest.
