STOURBRIDGE RFC’S new look side will have director of rugby, Neil Mitchell’s every word ringing in their ears as they run out at Blaydon on Saturday after he warned complacency would not be accepted.

Mitchell watched his young side chalk up their first National League Two win of the season on Saturday at home to Mounts Bay and is now keen to see them carry on where they left off up in the North East on Saturday.

The coach witnessed his side go down 29-20 at his former side in February and believes the players’ personal preparations on that occasion were below the level expected.

He said: “The defeat at Blaydon in February probably cost us promotion so we know how tough it will be up there.

“I think some complacency slipped into the camp and we thought we were just going up there for the weekend to have a good time and the result would take care of it self.

“The players now fully understand what is expected of them because on Monday evening they were all read the riot act and brought back down to earth.

“We have 32 players here fighting for a place in a squad of 20 and the ones who will be going are those who I think are mentally and physically ready for the challenge.

“We will be taking the game to them from the first minute and we will pile into them in an aggressive but controlled manner.”

Ruled out of the clash are Tom Jordan and Ben Hughes who are both recovering from concussion as well as Adam Billig who is missing due a hip and pelvic injury.
