A WELCOME to Wordsley sign has been put up thanks to a youngster being extremely proud of where he lives.
Isaac Hoult, aged seven, from Barnett Lane, noticed there was no welcome to Wordsley sign and decided to take action and try to get one put up.
The Fairhaven primary school student had seen during his holidays to Cornwall and different parts of the country, welcome signs informing people of where they were and thought it would be good for Wordsley to have one.
Inquisitive Isaac decided with the help of his dad, Jon to write to Dudley Council and ask them if they could construct a sign.
Jon said: “We wrote to the council asking if they could put up a sign and we had a letter back saying they were looking into it.
“They then wrote again to say they had decided to erect a sign.
“Isaac is very proud of where he comes from and he is really into the community and he doesn’t understand why people want to vandalise and ruin things.
“It is good to see a youngster doing something positive for the good of the community.”
John Crowther, street maintenance team manager, said: "We were only too pleased to organise for the sign and post to be put up after the issue had been brought to our attention by Isaac.
“It is great that a child of Isaac's age is taking such an interest in his local surroundings and local community and we were delighted to put it up on his birthday to give him an extra special present to remember."
