A GUTSY group of hikers have raised around £2,000 for Sunfield School in Clent after successfully completing the testing Three Peaks Challenge.
The 11-strong team from Kinver and Kingswinford scaled the UK’s three highest mountains in aid of the special school - to boost its continuing appeal to raise £3.5m for new state-of-the-art classrooms.
First up was Ben Nevis in Scotland, then onto Scafell Pike in the Lake District and then off to Wales to take on the mighty Mount Snowdon.
Team member David Yair said: “Six out of 11 of us reached the summit of Snowdon - and we made it summit to summit in 24 hours, which was quite an achievement.”
Roger Pauli, Sunfield trustee, said: “We have set ourselves a massive challenge to raise £3.5 million for the new facilities and without the support of the community it would be an almost impossible task.
“This group’s challenge was huge and we are very grateful to them.”
The team also hope to donate around £1,000 to the Pearl of Africa Children’s Choir - which builds homes and schools for orphaned and destitute children in Uganda.
