DUDLEY’S young people will be honoured for their achievements at a glitzy awards ceremony next week.
Dudley Concert Hall will host the Dudley Youth Awards on Thursday October 2, which aim to reward young people for contributions to their communities over the last 12 months.
Mayor of Dudley, Councillor Ray Burston, will present the prestigious awards to around 130 young people.
Parents and friends are invited and will support the hopeful candidates.
The categories and nominees are: Sport: Nicola Hartle, Carl Butcher, Kalisha Shade, Dael Gethings and Ashleigh Whyte.
Community individual: Asim Mohammed, Abbie Jones, Joseph Waltho, Steven Pearson and Alex Robinson.
Community group: 4 Us Project, Saltwells Youth Pact, Dudley Deaf Youth Club, Me & U Club and Chat Back Productions.
Arts and entertainment: Not Currently Named, Sonday Rose, Wrosne Underground Experience, Before Dawn and Dudley Dancers.
Bravery and courage: Lawrence Tonkinson, Blake Worrall, Bethany Hamilton, Shanice Smith and Ryan Williams.
Contributions to school/ college: Paige Garbutt, Joel Hatton, Georgina Heeley Danielle Lewis, Mary Growcott, Jeremy Purcell, Sajid Rehman, Sarah Mellors, Linda Wilkes and Neale Pilkington.
Councillor Liz Walker, Dudley cabinet member for children’s services said: “The Dudley youth awards night is always a glamorous occasion and is a fitting tribute for the achievements of our young people across the borough. Congratulations to all of the nominees and I look forward to a great evening of celebration.”
