HIGH rise residents now have a hi-tech way to nominate neighbours for an award for being good citizens.

A nomination form has been set up on Dudley Council’s website allowing people in tower blocks to get involved without leaving their homes.

The Good Neighbour Award 2008 has been launched in a bid to find people who spend their time helping others and making high rise living a towering success.

Councillor Michael Evans, cabinet member for housing, said: “There are many people who go out of their way to help others in our high rise blocks and this award is about celebrating their work.

“The on-line voting means it is now even easier to get involved this year.”

The annual event is now in its fourth year and aims to reward people living in high rise blocks who go above and beyond in a bid to create thriving communities.

Residents are being asked to nominate people they feel deserve this year’s award. It could be someone who does odd jobs such as cooking or shopping for an elderly resident or people who are just generally good neighbours.

The winner and runner-up will be chosen by a judging panel and handed their trophies at an awards evening in December.

Dudley Council and Dudley Federation of Tenants and Residents Association have teamed up with the High Rise Living Forum to run the awards.

Nomination forms have been delivered to residents in high rise blocks across the borough. People can also pick up a form from Dudley Council and housing offices. The closing date for entries is November 14.
