A FRIEND’S wedding gave a Kingswinford couple the chance to start a relationship which recently reached a golden milestone.
Ken and Janette Griffiths, from Lea Croft Road, celebrated 50 years of marriage on September 20 by remembering how Ken’s best man duties helped him find a bride of his own.
The couple first met at a dance but lost touch for two years before meeting again at the wedding after the groom, who was a customer at the bank where Janette worked, invited her to the event.
Ken, now aged 80 and Janette, now 73, got engaged a year later and were married at St James’s Church, Wollaston.
Retired master builder Ken and Janette, marked their anniversary with a weekend cruise which was a gift from their daughter Dawn, son-in-law James and granddaughter April-Lina.
Janette said: “We have a loving and caring relationship and are a close family, we have been able to help each other in difficult times.”
