MEMBERS participated in a number of events during August. Afternoon tea was enjoyed at Barnes Close with Burcot & Blackwell and Cofton Hackett WIs. On August 14, members attended a delightful Mad Hatters Tea Party when the speaker was David Barby of ‘Bargain Hunt’ and ‘Flog it’ fame. Beautiful hats and a delightful talk made this a very special afternoon.
The Autumn season began with an illustrated talk by Andrew Lounds on, ‘Titanic-The Midlands connection’. This was an amazing, moving and informative presentation. It was so well presented that members were drawn fully into the story of the Midlands connection and the sad outcome of the Titanic disaster as it affected local people.
Sptember 13 saw members working hard to produce an extremely successful coffee morning. Proceeds from the event meant that a £300 donation was sent to the Mary Stevens Hospice. Members would like to thank all those who patronised the event an spent money so generously.
A flower arranging workshop with Jackie peers as tutor was held on September 15, when lovely miniature arrangements were arranged according to Jackie’s instructions and the schedules for this type of arrangement.
Back now to the dark evenings but happy afternoons on the second Monday in each month, 2pm at the Community Centre have much to enjoy. If you would be interested, please come along to any meeting.
