THE Chairman Fred Willetts welcomed the President Tom Hadgkiss, the speaker Brian Draper and the members, a new member and a guest to the meeting.

The president thanked and praised the members for the quality of the numerous exhibits at the annual show. A special mention of martin and Adams help. A Minutes silence was held in memory of Dare Radford and Fred Rushby who had recently died. On a lighter note, Gerald Langley told us of how he came to find a rare beetle in the greenhouse. It took some time with the help of Howard Drury at Ashford Nursery to identify it. Members then had the pleasure of Brian showing us beautiful slides of the journey of the River Severn with all its flora and fauna. The chairman thanked him for showing us such wonderful scenes which we would probably never see.

The results of the competition are as follows: Runner beans - Gerald Langley; Courgettes - Val Highway; Standard tomatoes and cherry tomatoes - DJ Knight; Red onions - Adam Greathead; Asters - John Boswell; Chrysanthemums - John Boswell; Dahlias - Adam Greathead; Jar of beetroot - Donald Knight; Homemade biscuits - Sheila Hulse.

The evening closed following the raffle. The next meeting will be on October 20.The speaker will be Marion Webster creating for flower arranging.
