The Glassboys FA Cup dreams were left shattered for another year after they were beaten 1-0 away at Brackley Town in a replay shrouded in controversy.
Stourbridge manager, Gary Hackett was hot under the collar with the officials following Saturday’s 1-1 draw at the War Memorial but was equally aggrieved after the midweek defeat.
The Glassboys were left gobsmacked with the refereeing team after seeing a Sam Rock (pictured) header disallowed for offside and then the hosts being awarded a dubious penalty for handball by Gavin Winsper late on, which led to their CUP exit.
Hackett said: “I don’t like to be critical of referees but I think over these two games both him and his assistants have been a little naive.
“I think over the two games we certainly didn’t get the rub of the green but I certainly wouldn’t blame our exit on the referee, I was just a little bit disappointed with some of the decision making.”
Stourbridge now turn their attentions back to the BGB Premier Division.
Hackett's side are at home to Hemel Hempstead Town on Saturday (3pm) before travelling to basement club Rugby Town on Tuesday (7.45pm kick-off).
The boss is again likely to be putting out a patched up team as he deals with a lengthy injury list.
He will be sweating on the fitness of Calum Martin (ankle), Lindon Dovey (knee) and Gavin Winsper (hamstring) who are all rated 50/50 for the weekend.
Hackett will definitely be without Kyle Hadley whose broken leg will be in a cast for at least two more weeks, as well as Mark Benbow who has moved to Stourport Swifts.
Saturday will also be the last outing for striker Ryan Broadhurst before he heads back to Scotland with work commitments.
Hackett did confirm there was the possibility a new face could be in by the weekend although he rubbished rumours it would be former fans favourite Mark Bellingham.
The Glassboys’ youth team will be hoping for better look in the FA Cup when they travel to Worcester City on Monday night (kick-off 7.30pm) in the second qualifying round of the FA Youth Cup.
