Stourbridge director of rugby, Neil Mitchell is confident the return of four of his big guns for Saturday’s home clash with Wharfedale will be the big boost needed to reignite his side’s stuttering start to the season.
Stour suffered their third straight away defeat of their National League Two campaign at Blaydon (37-16) last weekend and the lack of experience and know how was a key factor according to Mitchell.
Already without the services of Ben Hughes, Adam Billig and Tom Jordan for the clash, they suffered a further blow when ten minutes before kick-off influential number eight Duncan White pulled up injured.
Mitchell said: “The loss of Duncan so close to kick-off caused a few problems because he plays in such an important position and with us already being without Adam Billig, Tom Jordan and Ben Hughes we were lacking experience to help the youngsters through.
“In the end we were playing catch-up rugby against a good side, which is always difficult.”
Mitchell is hopeful the key quartet will all be fit and ready for battle against Wharfedale.
He added: “We should have all of them back in contention for Saturday, which will be a big boost to everyone.
“There will certainly be changes and I think that extra experience and know how will be a big boost to the younger lads.”
One player who will not be back in action is injury plagued Sam Robinson.
The talented fly-half was on the come back trail from his second serious knee injury in two years, only to be stretchered off the training pitch on Tuesday evening with more damage to his knee ligaments.
The 22-year-old is set to undergo tests in Worcester to discover the extent of the injury.
