An 84-year-old woman was rescued from a fire which broke out in the living room of a bungalow in Kingswinford.

Firefighters using breathing apparatus rescued the OAP from the semi-detached property in Greenfields Road.

They were called to the address at 9.54pm yesterday (Saturday). There was a small fire in the living room which had caused heavy smoke logging to the rest of the property.

The pensioner was given first aid at the scene and was taken to Russells Hall Hospital.

Fire crews from Brierley Hill and Stourbridge attended and ventilated the bungalow using a fan. The emergency call was received via a care line. Dudley housing attended to secure the property.
