YOUNGSTERS at a Kingswinford school got a taste for culinary cooperation at the launch of a mammoth cooking project.
Crestwood Park Primary school, Lapwood Avenue, kicked off their year-long healthy eating campaign with the grand opening of a new kitchen built with help from businesses in the region.
The school’s Kids in The Kitchen project will involve pupils learning about where food comes from and how to prepare simple dishes.
Crestwood teacher, Pam Batta, said: “With increasing problems with childhood obesity this project is the perfect opportunity for us to teach our pupils the key practical life skills to maintain a more healthy lifestyle and to make learning in the classroom real, more fun and meaningful.”
Parents and pupils joined staff from restaurant chains Frankie and Benny’s and Chiquitos to test the new kitchen at its official opening on Wednesday October 1 by preparing and tasting dishes.
The project developed a community flavour by enlisting help from companies in the region including Magnet, Geoff Hill Electrical and Makro.
