PRESIDENT Jean Green welcomed members to the meeting on 17th September and thanked Sheila Crofts for the attractive flower arrangement.
The minutes of the July meeting were read by Gill Smith and approved.
Secretary Daphne Marsh informed members of the correspondence received. In response to our letter to Lynda Waltho concerning the imprisonment of people with severe mental health problems, Daphne read a letter from David Hanson MP, Minister of State, informing us of actions already taken and future meetings to be held with the National Federation of Women's Institutes.
Future plans were outlined which include our Barn Dance on the 24th October, the Group Meeting at Clent, the Challenge Quiz with Pedmore Men's Club and the Autumn Council Meeting at Stourport.
Group Leader Joy Evans announced that she has organised a coach for the Service of Celebration and Thanksgiving at Worcester Cathedral.
The President then introduced our speaker, Mr. D. Womham, who entertained us with a most interesting talk and music played on all sorts of instruments, including shells, cow horns, cornets, trumpets and various pipes. During this talk we journeyed round the world from Scotland, Austria, Switzerland, Tibet, China, India, and Australia. This was much enjoyed by all members and Judy Needham gave the vote of thanks.
Our next meeting will be our Annual Meeting and will be held at 7.30pm on the 15th October at Pedmore School. Visitors and new members will be made most welcome.
