Old Hales Colts 50 Kidderminster Colts 0.
Old Halesonians Colts were more than a match for their local rivals from Kidderminster after they cruised to a 50-0 victory at Wassell Grove.
The Colts started the match superbly and took the game to Kidderminster from the off, scoring three tries in the opening 10 minutes.
Winger Jake Shellis showed the defence a clean pair of heels as he sprinted with determination to score the first try, which was not converted from wide out.
Old Hales scrum-half Adam Whiteman was as busy as a bee and was rewarded when he seemed completely enveloped by the opposition but still managed to twist and turn and score the second try again not converted.
Hooker Rob Butler was making himself a real nuisance around the fringes but it was another of Old Hales forwards Luke Lewis who picked up a loose ball and sprinted like a threequarter for the line to score another unconverted try.
The visitors were in total disarray and even when they started to combine things Luke Cullis and David Wakefield were on hand with some good tackling.
Old Hales would not rest and after some great combined passing Centre Andy Holloway and Fullback Mike Lawley rounded it off and scored a try each both converted by Alex Herbert.
The hosts made wholesale team changes for the start of the second half but it didn’t seem to hold up their intentions of running rugby after an exquisite switch move with Wakefield and winger Tom Moorhouse allowing the latter to sprint in for a try, which was converted by Andy Tromans.
The visitors tried hard to get back into the game only to be ground down by some good spoiling by Sam Ward and Jordan Herbert. Then Andy Holloway blasted over for his second try again accurately converted by Tromans.
Old Hales continued to probe and Jamie Leech was stopped short of the line.
There followed a spell of unproductive rugby as Old Hales lost their shape and allowed the visitors to apply some degree of pressure.
Again a combination of stubborn defence and a desire not to allow the visitors to score saw them grind back up field, for Stevie Deakin to power over to score the final try, which was again converted by Tromans.
Old Halesonians Colts will be looking to continue their thrilling brand of rugby when they welcome Old Sillhillians to Wassell Grove for their next match.
