A COMMUNITY fun day in Wollaston, supported by the police, pulled in the crowds and helped to hammer home a few crime prevention tips.
The annual May Madness event at Ridgewood High School proved a big hit with young and old alike on Saturday May 7.
The free event kicked off with a charity football match between police and teachers at the Park Road West school and helped to raise cash for community groups.
There was also a talent contest for under 16s plus performances from Starfire cheerleaders and dancers from Stourbridge’s Fitness Factory and the Karen Yates Dance School; and high-flying demonstrations by Stourbridge model aircraft champion Luke Jackson.
Sergeant Steve Gordon, who was heavily involved in the fun day, said: “This annual event brings together the local community and also gives young people the opportunity to showcase their talents and hobbies.
“Neighbourhood officers were at the fun day to assist and were also on hand to speak to local residents about crime prevention and offer advice on any issues they would like to discuss.”
The fun-packed day also included a raffle, tombola, barbecue, stalls, facepainting and was supported by community groups such as the Guides and Foodbank.
