THE Mayor of Dudley will be on a whistle-stop tour of the some of the borough’s most iconic sites to highlight the area as a tourism hotspot.

Councillor Peter Miller, who was re-elected to his Kingswinford seat in last Thursday’s election, will be glassblowing, feeding rare and exotic animals and touring the historic caves beneath Dudley as part of his tour tomorrow (Friday May 13).

The trip will cover landmark sites such as Dudley Zoo, the Black Country Living Museum, Broadfield House Glass Museum in Kingswinford, Wordsley’s Red House Glass Cone and the Copthorne hotel in Brierley Hill and Leasowes parkland in Halesowen.

Cllr Miller said: “Dudley borough is a fantastic place for people to come and visit. We have so much going on in this borough you could spend a week here and find something new and exciting to do every day.

“People love the variety in each of our towns and I want to highlight to people just how much there is to offer in this wonderful borough. I’ll share the pictures and video of my travels next week.”

The Mayor kicked off his tour at the historic Wren’s Nest nature reserve, famous for its geological link to millions of years of history.

The trip will also see him feeding birds of prey at Dudley Zoo, serving in a shop at the Black Country Living Museum and taking a boat trip with Dudley Canal Trust before helping to spruce up grassland and wildlife habitat at Leasowes.

He will also try his hand at glassblowing at Broadfield House Glass Museum before taking afternoon tea at the Copthorne Hotel and finishing up his day having a go at bead-making at the Red House Glass Cone.
