BEV Pegg and his Cowboy Band will be making their annual appearance at Hagley Community Centre next week to help pull in the pounds to help injured soldiers and other charities.
The event, organised by the Rotary Club of Stourbridge, takes place at the Worcester Road venue on Wednesday May 18 at 8pm.
Bev’s six-piece Cowboy Band comprising Maurice Hipkiss (pedal steel guitar / dobro / violin), Pete Hartley (violin / mandolin), Pete Boddis (guitar / banjo / mandolin / vocal), Harry Rowlands (bass guitar / vocal), Ken Wright (drums / vocals), and Bev on lead vocals and guitar has become a respected outfit on the UK's country scene over the past two years.
Their CD Come Along Boys And Listen To My Tale was named CD of the month by UK Country Radio during 2009 - and many of the musicians have played with and alongside many of the world's top acts. Maurice Hipkiss has performed with Glen Campbell and played steel guitar on Don McLean’s 1980 number 2 hit Crying.
Bev said: “We don’t play much in the way of obscure country music, just good ol’ songs that are known by everybody, such as songs of Hank Williams, Bob Wills, Johnny Cash and Bill Monroe to name a few. They’re played and sung in our own style, with lots of good instrumental solos, and lots of laughs to go with them."
Money raised from the bash will go to Help For Heroes and Rotary charities.
Tickets cost £12.50 and include a fish and chip supper. They are available on 01384 394402.
