A CLENT care home has been told to get its act together after concerns were raised about standards of quality and safety.
A report by the Care Quality Commission which regulates, inspects and reviews adult social care said improvements must be made at Foresters Nursing Home at Walton Pool, run by Redwood Care Homes Limited.
A review was carried out on the home in Walton Pool Lane after concerns were raised over the management of medicines, care and welfare of patients and whether their nutritional needs were being met.
During a visit on March 10, a report states, the Commission noted the home had a caring approach to people who live there and they were being well cared for.
But information about the care required for each patient, and whether they needed help to eat or drink, was not always up to date, correct or detailed enough which “could cause confusion and put people at risk due to staff not being clear about the correct care to give”.
There were also concerns that ineffective stock control and ordering systems had led to the home being overstocked with medication which “could leave people at risk of not being given their prescribed medication”.
The report said medicines were also not stored at the correct temperature which could alter their effectiveness.
The home, which looks after up to 30 people including many with dementia, has been asked to send the CQC a report stating what action they intend to take to rectify the issues.
