MARY Stevens Hospice is celebrating having secured the support of its first celebrity.
BBC WM presenter Jenny Wilkes is championing this year’s hospice super draw - which boasts a jackpot of £5,000.
The ninth annual draw will take place on Wednesday June 15 and Stourbridge based star Jenny, who hosts a popular soul and motown show on WM on Fridays, will be on hand to get things underway.
She said: “Mary Stevens Hospice has always had a place in the hearts of the local community. I’ve seen first hand what fantastic work it does. It’s an amazing place and it’s right on our doorstep but it needs our support.
“I hope everyone will support this year’s super draw and make it more successful than ever - there’s always the chance of winning the big prize.”
Diane Moore, hospice lottery field manager, said, “In these difficult financial times we need public support more than ever, and Jenny has generously agreed to endorse our annual fundraising activity to ensure it’s a huge success.”
She said in previous years the draw has helped generate as much as £68,000 in revenue a year for the hospice which relies on donations to meet its £2m a year running costs.
To be in with a chance of winning the £5,000 jackpot a £1 subscription is needed.
Tickets are available from hospice charity shops and the hospice’s lottery office. Visit website marystevenshospice.co.uk for more details.
