AN investigation has begun into the cause of a blaze which caused severe damage to a historic Wordsley factory.

Rush hour traffic was disrupted by smoke from the fire at the former Stuart Crystal works on Camp Hill which began at around 6pm yesterday evening (Thursday May 12).

Several road closures were put in place whilst fire crews worked at the scene, causing traffic to divert towards Brierley Hill.

Audnam was closed between Brettell Lane and Brierley Hill Road, with the restrictions remaining in place until fire crews had completed firefighting at the scene, at around midnight.

Specialist fire investigators will examine the scene further today to determine a cause for the blaze.

Anyone who was in the area yesterday afternoon and has further information to help police should call officers at Brierley Hill Police Station on 0345 113 5000.
