THE borough’s sight loss charity is launching a new project which aims to boost support for carers next month.
Stourbridge’s Thomas Pocklington Trust has been able to plough ahead with its Very Important People (VIP) project since scooping a £300,000 windfall from the Big Lottery Reaching Communities fund.
The money has enabled the trust’s Stoubridge Resource Centre to devise a project which will help provide vital support to carers such as respite time and access to up-to-date information on sight loss.
The project will be launched at an event at the David Lloyd Leisure Club, Brierley Hill, on Monday 13 June to mark the beginning of Carers’ Week.
Guests will have chance to find out about the carers’ support group and other support organisations which will be taking stands at the event running from 11am to 2pm.
Following the opening speeches and lunch, there will be a balloon race with prizes for the lucky finders.
