SCHOOL pupils across Stourbridge are being encouraged to put their best foot forward and walk to school as part of National Walk to School Week this week.
Youngsters at all of Dudley’s primary schools have been provided with wall charts and stickers to record how they arrive at school each day.
And those who live too far from school to walk the full journey are being encouraged to ‘park and stride’, by parking the car a short distance from school and walking the rest of the way.
Councillor Angus Adams, Dudley’s cabinet member for transportation, said: “Walking to school offers young people an ideal way of getting some physical exercise into their daily routine.
“By reducing the number of cars taking children on the school run, we will also reduce congestion on surrounding streets and make the roads a safer place for everyone.”
