STUDENTS and staff at Stourbridge’s Pedmore Technology College and Community School are celebrating after receiving a glowing Ofsted report.
Inspectors described the Grange Lane school as “good” and hailed principal David Kemp as “inspirational” following their most recent visit.
Their report - which particularly praises the school’s commitment to promoting community cohesion and pupil contributions to school the wider community - is a major boost for the school which was rated “satisfactory” back in 2007.
It states: “Pedmore Technology College is a good school.
“Student outcomes, particularly their achievement, are rising strongly as a result of the school's good provision. Recent changes in curriculum have ensured that courses more closely match students' individual needs, particularly the needs of boys at risk of being excluded.
“This has resulted in a sharp rise in the rates of progress and attendance as students are now keen to come to school, enjoy their lessons and behave well.”
Principal David Kemp said: “Our Ofsted report is great news for our students and parents who have it now confirmed by government that their children are attending a good school.
“We have put in many changes and everyone has worked so hard to ensure improvement here over the last three years.
“Last year saw record results for us at GCSE level and we were already recognised as one of the most improved schools in the Black Country.
“More recently our school achieved a place as one of the top three schools in the region for students achieving much better than expected, another aspect noted by the inspection team.”
