THE FAMILY of a Kinver twin who died aged just 14 days have raised more than £2k for Birmingham Children’s Hospital in her memory.

Millie Court’s parents Mark and Ruth Court along with her surviving twin Maisie, grandparents Sue and John Court and auntie Hannah Court, aged 17, took part in the BRMB walkathon.

They have raised £2.5k from sponsorship by taking part in the seven-mile family route on Sunday May 8.

Cash will go towards improvements to the hospital’s emergency department.

Engineer Mark, aged 36, said: “Around 10,000 people took part so there was a really good atmosphere on the walk.

“Millie got first class treatment at the hospital so we wanted to say thank you.

“The staff there did a great job.”

Millie was born at Russells Hall Hospital with brain, muscle and nervous system abnormailities and couldn’t breathe without the help of a ventilator.

Despite her difficulties she had to wait 11 days to be transferred to Birmingham Children’s Hospital for specialist tests to diagnose her condition.

She died on January 25 after her life support machine was switched off leaving her family shocked at the shortage of staff and beds they had witnessed.

Since then the family has set about fundraising for the hospitals which cared for her as a thank you to staff and in the hope other families won’t have to go through the same agonising wait for a bed. They have already raised £800 for Russells Hall. Mark thanked The Cross Inn in Kinver which has raised cash for their appeal from a series of charity nights.
