The spring season of I Will wedding fairs finished in style on Sunday with a highly successful event at Stourton Park, home of Stourbridge Rugby Club.
More than 300 brides- and grooms-to-be and their families and friends flocked to the marquee in the venue’s attractive grounds, where some 50 exhibitors displayed a wide range of wedding services from flowers, balloons and cars to fireworks, traditional sweets and river cruises. Renowned wedding planner Jane Dayus-Hinch, host of TV’s Wedding SOS, was also on hand to offer expert advice.
The event featured two exciting fashion shows, professionally choreographed by Sally Mansell of The Fashion Show Company, which showcased wedding trends from popular local boutiques: The Lace Mill, Frocks & Flowers (both Kidderminster), Upmarket By Appointment (Belbroughton), Marion Vaughan Bridal Studio (Stourbridge), Promesse (Worcester), A-Z Wedding Services of Stourport, and The Wardrobe at Kinver.
Visitors also had the chance to enter a prize draw to win a chocolate fountain for their own wedding or party, courtesy of Choc ‘n’ Hog Catering – the lucky winner was Jeni Bailey of Stourbridge, who is getting married this November.
“Stourton Park is a new venue for us, and I’m happy to say that the event far exceeded our expectations,” said organiser Carol Hinett.
Darren Williams, of All Seasons Wedding Cars, was delighted with the fair’s success: “We were given a great position and had loads of visitors – at one point I thought we were going to run out of business cards! We took two bookings on the day, and one customer booked our Rolls Royce without even seeing it. And the highlight of my day was meeting Jane Dayus-Hinch… I love her programme!”
Exhibitor Karen Hayes, of Occasional Cakes, was also pleased with the turnout: “The I Will fairs are always well-run and well-attended, and this one was no exception. It was a fantastic venue, and we had lots of interest from visitors with many orders placed on the day.”
The I Will wedding fairs – run by the people behind local newspapers such as The Shuttle, Bromsgrove Advertiser, Redditch Advertiser, Stourbridge News, Halesowen News and Dudley News – bring together an array of services under one roof. This means couples and their families and friends can spend a relaxed and enjoyable day collecting ideas and contacts to help create the perfect wedding.
