MARY Stevens Hospice in Stourbridge has received a £510 boost thanks to a town supermarket’s charity scheme.
A cheque for £510 was presented to the Oldswinford hospice from the proceeds of Waitrose’s monthly Community Matters tokens initiative.
Waitrose store associate Surinder Kaur handed over the money to hospice fundraising manager Janet Jones who said: “Without such donations the hospice would not remain open.”
The scheme sees Waitrose customers given a green token at the checkout - which they can place in one of three boxes to support a charity of their choice.
The supermarket has donated almost £3,600 to the hospice since 2007, with staff member Phil Glazebrook having raised more than £2,600 from an abseil.
