KINVER called on some heavy horse power to prepare for the return of the village country fayre.
On Saturday May 21, Clydesdale horses Noah and Wallace pulled a dray delivering ale from the Kinver Brewery to the Vine, the Cross and Kinver Constitutional Club to roll out the barrel on final preparations for the event, which promises to be bigger than ever.
The horses were driven by Paul and Yvonne Simmons of the Mordearg Shires stud near Wolverhampton, who were assisted on the dray by Kinver Brewery’s proprietors David Kelly and Ian Davies, with colleague Phil Brown.
Noah and Wallace along with lots more horses will be back in Kinver on June 18 and 19, when the Midlands Heavy Horse Association is holds its club show to coincide with the fayre.
Kinver’s annual Country Fayre will take place on Sunday June 19 and several horses will be taking part in events including leading the opening parade through the village.
The fayre, which is set to start at around midday, will feature a host of attractions including a medieval re-enactment, jousting displays, falconry, craftspeople at work, donkey rides, Indian USA motorcycles, a dog show, photographic competition, tug-of-war, music, dancing, stalls, refreshments and a real ale tent.
The annual Kinver fayre has been established for more than a quarter-of-a-century, but was suspended last year due to major roadworks.
Organisers say the 2011 show will feature an expanded format that includes arena displays on Stag Meadow near the High Street.
