LYE took advantage of some awful fielding to claim a six wicket win at Division Three rivals Enville.
After a slow start Greg Tomkins (113) and Jay Willis (64) added 155 to set up a competitive total of 276-8 for the home side. Bhanu Nehra (3 for 65 off 11 overs) was the pick of the Lye bowlers.
The visitors’ response got off to a slow start as Lye lost an early wicket. But some hard hitting from Jon Stanaway (52), against some admittedly loose bowling, gave their innings some real impetus.
Enville captain Adam Tranter (3-50) removed Stanaway and then took two in two balls to give his team the upper hand.
However, poor bowling, dropped catches and half chances cost Enville dear as Dhadwal (95no) and Andy Webster (100 no) knocked off the winning runs with two overs to spare.
In the second XI match at Lye, Enville could only manage 149 all out in 39 overs with Spencer Mann (27), Rhys Lockley and Paul Moran (20) providing the bulk of the runs. In response Enville bowled well to ensure Lye took 38 overs to score the required 152 with Jamie Tristram taking 4-19 and John Barber hitting 64 for Lye.
