RISING Stourbridge literary star Miranda Dickinson says it was the “best feeling in the world” to revisit the library which inspired her to put pen to paper.

As part of Big Book Fortnight 2011, the Fairytale of New York and Welcome To My World author stopped off at Kingswinford Library - which she used to visit while growing up.

Miranda had always dreamed of one day writing a book that would grace the library’s shelves and to celebrate achieving her ambition the 38-year-old writer, who is signed to Avon (part of publishing giant HarperCollins), gave a talk to fans on May 25 about her rise to fame in the world of romantic fiction.

Although living only a few miles away from the library, Miranda from Wollaston, said: “It was amazing to go back to Kingswinford Library as a published author. As a little girl I remember asking my mum if she thought the library would one day have one of my books in it.

“That was the beginning of my writing dream, so to be able to stand in front of the lovely audience in the library and tell them about how I became an author was the best feeling in the world.”

Kate Millin, Dudley’s assistant director of libraries, archives and adult learning, said: “We were delighted to welcome Miranda back to Kingswinford Library.

“She’s a true example of someone who found inspiration in their local library and went on to become a great success.”

Miranda, who was snapped up by publishers after she posted a story on authonomy.com for unsigned writers, is now busy putting the finishing touches to her third book - It Started With A Kiss - which will be released in November.
