DESPITE being unable to walk, gutsy senior citizens from a Clent care home will be taking part in the Race For Life this weekend.
Marjorie Pugh, Pearl Mellings, Minnie Auden, Audrey Taylor, Joyce Bishop, Joan Roden, all residents at Foresters Nursing Home in the village, have signed up for the challenge which will take place at Kidderminster’s Brinton Park this Sunday (June 5) at 11am.
Lisa Moseley, activities co-ordinator at the home in Walton Pool Lane, said the residents - who are no longer mobile - asked if they could take part in the event after finding out that she and fellow staff members Sharon Poole, Jodie Burgess, Fiona Milne, Lisa Evans, Gill Fleet, Mary Chen and Ann Rose had signed up for the popular fundraiser in aid of Cancer Research UK.
She added: “The residents expressed that they would like to take part because it is a cause close to their hearts - so the staff are going to be pushing the ladies round in their wheelchairs.
“We all have our pink T shirts ready and we are all very excited.”
