SUPPORTERS of a Wordsley special school are gearing up for a massive fundraiser next month to help raise £20,000 for a new sensory room.
Pens Meadow School, which cares for youngsters with learning disabilities, is looking to improve and expand its current sensory room so more youngsters can benefit from it - so parents, teachers and friends of the school have launched a drive to pull in the pounds for the project.
On July 8 they will be holding a fundraising night with an auction, live music from The Narks, refreshments and a raffle at the Wilson Rooms in Cradley.
Fundraising officer Sarah Callaghan said: “We want to make the sensory room bigger and better - with better sound, better lighting and more wheelchair access so more children can use it.
“At present there’s not enough space for them - it means only one or two can use it at a time.”
The fundraising evening, compered by TV presenter Lucy Nicholls, starts at 7.30pm.
Tickets cost £7.50 for adults with concessions available for children, OAPs and the disabled. Admission is free for under fives and family tickets (two adults and two children) are available for £20.
To book call fundraising officer Sarah Callaghan on 01384 345319 or the school on 01384 818945.
Businesses interested in donating prizes for the raffle/auction are also invited to get in touch.
