SKY One TV star Steve Miller visited Stourbridge for a purr-sonal appearance to encourage feline-friendly volunteers.
The Fat Families presenter rolled up his sleeves to help Stourbridge and District Cats Protection with a campaign calling on people to join the national charity’s 7,000-strong army of helpers.
During his visit on June 7 Steve, who owns three cats, visited the home of a cat fosterer where he fed cats, cleaned cat pens and helped an overweight kitty called Tiger get some exercise as part of her weight control programme.
Steve said: “Tiger is a massive fatty feline and I’m always keen to tackle obesity. She’s a very gorgeous cat and what she really needs now is a bit of tender loving care and a big garden to run around.”
Steve also helped out at the charity’s shop in Lower High Street, where he stacked shelves, sorted clothes and served customers.
He added: “Saving cats from uncertain futures and giving them a second chance is so important and doing my bit to help makes me feel very proud.”
The Stourbridge branch needs more volunteers – particularly people who can help in their shop.
