DAREDEVIL motorbike riders will be the star attraction at this year’s Wordsley Festival taking place this weekend.

The traditional family fun day will be held in King George V Park, Bells Lane, on Saturday June 18.

A bumper crop of attractions and events have been lined up by the Stourbridge and Black Country Events team, who are laying on the entertainment; the highlight of which will be The Flyin Ryan Motorcycle Stunt Show.

Accompanied by his team of stunt riders - Flyin Ryan Griffiths, who has more than 30 years of professional motocross racing experience, promises to dazzle the crowd with spectacular tricks and jumps.

The winners of this year’s Wordsley’s Got Talent show - Malcolm Palmer and Elysia Rae Faux - will also be performing at the event.

Malcolm, aged 75, from Gornal, will be entertaining music fans with his banjo-ukulele playing and storytelling - while Stourbridge schoolgirl Elysia, aged ten, will be showing off her singing talents.

Also performing will be runners up - Adam Foxall, a 19-year-old guitar player from Amblecote, singing duo Affinity, tean-year-old musical theatre star Thomas Withers from Kingswinford, and 13-year-old singer Jessica Powell from Wall Heath.

Other attractions on the day will include a fun fair, refreshments, stalls, pony rides, side shows, live music from the likes of Sean Rumsey, Of Kings and Captains and others; and children’s characters Fifi and Bumble will also be putting in an appearance.

The fun will run from 11am to 5pm but the event will be officially opened at midday by Wordsley Festival Princess Millie Smith and Rosebud Ebony Simcox together with the Mayor of Dudley, councillor Michael Evans, and Dudley South MP Chris Kelly.

The main event, as always, will be preceded tonight (Thursday June 16) by a free treat night at the fair for disabled individuals and groups - courtesy of the Thomas Jones fun fair.

Anyone still wishing to register for the disability night which starts at 7pm can call festival chairman Mick Davies on 07702 851050 or turn up on the night.

Admission to the main festival is £2.50 on the gate and parking onsite is available for £1.
