WORDSLEY schoolkids had chance to mess about on the water when a narrowboat moored up outside Ashwood Park Primary as part of lessons on Black Country heritage.
Children at the school in Bells Lane met Stourbridge waterways expert Graham Fisher MBE when the boat stopped off; they also visited the nearby Red House Glass Cone to try their hand at glassmaking and other crafts as well as learning about manufacturing that used to dominate the area.
Headteacher Steve Hudson said pupils have also been “spaking” Black Country and creating dialogue dictionaries as part of the week designed to help youngsters understand the area’s culture.
Mr Hudson added: “The children have been extremely interested in learning more about their heritage and have had a wonderful time.”
